May 14th, 2012 I took a test that would forever change my life. Yep, you guessed it… a pregnancy test. I remember it like it was yesterday… And although we wanted a baby, seeing the word PREGNANT pop up so quickly on the digital pregnancy test screen was a huge surprise. It was the day after Mother’s Day that I found out I was going to be a MOM… Something I had always dreamed about.
Martin, my boyfriend at the time (now fiancĂ©) and I had just moved into a new apartment together. Since very early in our relationship we dreamt about having kids together… So while our pregnancy may have come to a shock to many of our family and friends, we had already spent many buzzed nights talking about how we wished we were parents. Usually, the conversation would end with us agreeing we weren’t quite “ready” to start a family but a month earlier in April we decided to hell with being ready, we were going to just see what happened.

Aww!!! Have you had the baby yet? Boy or girl? lol
Not yet!!! I was due three days ago but we are still waiting for our baby boy to make his big debut. So while I wait I decided to start a blog about the journey
AW!!! Well congrats!! I bet you can’t wait!!
My son is a real blessing from God. He’s 7months now.
Thank you!! We are definitely anxious to meet him! I can’t wait to be a mom!
I’m sure you’ll be a great mother. Are you planning on nursing?
I am! I’m a little nervous about how it will go but I am determined to make it work and not give up no matter how difficult it is.
Any advice you have for a first time mom?
Go get the book “The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding.” I read that book and I teach a class at WIC about nursing. Do not give up. Nurse on demand. Pacifiers are a no no because some say they will cause nipple confusion. My son hates a pacifier. lol He will also not take bottles. Don’t let anyone talk you into formula feeding if you don’t want to. It can take up to 5 days for your milk to come in but you have colostrum so your son will not go hungry.
